Plan rest days on a Belek golf holiday: Aspendos, Perge, Side, Kaleiçi, the Düden falls, Köprülü Canyon and spa time, and where each fits between rounds.

The quick read

What to know

  • Place rest days after consecutive rounds, keep arrival and departure days light, and leave one day flexible for the weather.
  • Aspendos, Perge, Side, Kaleiçi, the Düden falls and Köprülü Canyon suit different lengths of day; check current opening times and site notices on official pages.
  • List rest days and non-golfers in your quote request. Tee times, transfers and late check-out are confirmed per booking.

A golf holiday in Belek does not need a tee time every day. A rest day gives tired legs a break, leaves room for the weather and gives non-golfers in the party something to plan around. There is no shortage of options: Roman theatres, a walled old town, waterfalls and a mountain canyon all lie within Antalya province, like Belek itself.

This guide covers the main options and how to fit them around your rounds. Opening times, site notices and activity conditions change, so check the official pages close to your travel dates. Alexa Golf arranges golf holidays; guided tours, entry tickets and activities are separate unless your written confirmation lists them.

Where a rest day fits in a golf week

Plan the rounds first, then place rest days where they do the most good. A free day after two or three consecutive rounds is usually more useful than one squeezed onto the final morning.

Keep one day flexible if you can. If the forecast changes, a sightseeing day and a golf day might be swapped, but only if the club can move the tee time, which is confirmed per booking rather than assumed. After an evening round under floodlights, avoid an early start for a full-day trip the next morning.

  • Arrival day: keep it light after the flight and transfer; settle in and use the hotel facilities.
  • Between rounds: a shorter outing, such as Kaleiçi or the lower Düden falls, on an afternoon without golf.
  • Mid-week: a full rest day for a longer trip, such as Side or Köprülü Canyon.
  • Departure day: only a short visit, and only once flight times, luggage and any late check-out have been confirmed.

Aspendos, Perge and Side: the ancient cities

Aspendos is best known for its Roman theatre. UNESCO's description dates it to the second century AD and explains how Seljuk restoration and reuse as a palace helped preserve it. The theatre and aqueducts were added to UNESCO's Tentative List in 2015. That list records sites a country intends to consider for nomination; it is not World Heritage inscription.

Perge is a site to walk rather than a single monument. The ministry dates its two entrance towers to the third century BC and its most prosperous period to the second and third centuries AD, under Roman rule. Look for the colonnaded main street, baths, water channels and stadium. When rechecked on 13 October 2026, the ministry's Perge page said the ancient theatre was temporarily closed for restoration. Check the notice before planning around it.

Side makes a longer day. Go Türkiye describes it as the most important port of ancient Pamphylia, set on a narrow peninsula near Manavgat, with a colonnaded main street that curves past the theatre and ends near the temples.

One naming point for golfers: in Belek, Aspendos is also the name of an 18-hole course at Cullinan Links. An itinerary line reading 'Aspendos' may mean a tee time rather than a theatre visit. For the ancient sites, check current opening times on the ministry's museum pages, wear comfortable shoes for uneven paving, and carry water and sun protection.

Antalya old town, the Düden falls and Köprülü Canyon

Kaleiçi, Antalya's walled old town, suits a half day or an evening. Go Türkiye describes horseshoe-shaped walls built up over the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods, enclosing traditional tile-roofed houses, museums, cafés and restaurants. You can enter through Hadrian's Gate, a Roman monument dated to AD 130 and built in the emperor's name. The old town's historic harbour, at the foot of its narrow streets, is now a marina with day-trip boats along the cliffs; check current operators and sea conditions on the day.

The Düden falls come in two parts. At the lower falls, on the Lara side of Antalya, the Düden stream drops about 40 metres into the sea, and the ministry's culture portal points to a nearby park as a viewing spot. The upper falls lie inland in the city's Kepez district.

Köprülü Canyon National Park is a full day inland. The ministry's culture portal places it in Manavgat district and records that it was declared a national park in 1973. The Köprüçay has cut a canyon about 14 kilometres long, and the river is used for rafting. Trips depend on weather, water conditions and the operator's decision; do not assume they will run on your dates. The park also holds the ancient city of Selge, Roman-period bridges and part of the St Paul Trail. If anyone plans to raft, choose the operator carefully, ask about safety equipment and the briefing, and check that travel insurance covers the activity.

A quieter day at the hotel: spa, hammam and beach

A rest day does not have to involve a vehicle. Many Belek golf hotels pair course access with beaches, pools and spas, so staying put is often the simplest choice. The supplier's Summer 2026 concept for Sueno Hotels Deluxe Belek (valid 1 April–31 October 2026), for example, lists a two-floor spa with a hammam, saunas and steam rooms, and Sueno Golf lists its own hammam, sauna and steam room.

Check what the room or package includes: at Sueno Deluxe, treatments, exclusive spa areas and the thermal pool are generally charged separately. Beach and pool facilities can be seasonal too; ask what will be operating on your travel dates. Winter facilities and later seasons need separate confirmation. The lengths of day below are planning suggestions, not travel times.

Transfers, late check-out and your quote request

Tell us about rest days when you request a quote. The form asks for the number of golfers, so use the 'Anything else?' box to add non-golfers, preferred rest days and any places you hope to visit. Tee times can then be requested for the right days and transport planned around them. Non-golf stops, such as Antalya's old town, can be discussed as part of the transfer plan.

On the departure day, a late check-out is a request to the hotel rather than an automatic arrangement, so ask early and have a plan for luggage if it is not confirmed. For a longer winter stay, our long-stay options spread the rounds over two weeks or more, leaving more room for days like these.

A few more answers

Common questions

How many rest days should a golf week include?

There is no fixed rule. For a week with four or five rounds, one full rest day in the middle, with lighter arrival and departure days, is a sensible starting point. Adjust it for the group's fitness, the season and the non-golfers' plans.

Does 'Aspendos' on a golf itinerary mean the ancient theatre?

Not necessarily. Aspendos is also the name of an 18-hole course at Cullinan Links in Belek. Check whether the line refers to a tee time or a visit to the ancient city.

Can transport for a sightseeing day be included?

Mention it in your quote request. Non-golf stops can be discussed as part of the transfer plan. Guides, entry tickets and activities such as rafting are separate unless your written confirmation includes them.
