The quick read

What to know

  • A weather forecast, a course closure and a suspended round are different situations. Ask the club or your booking contact which applies before changing your plans.
  • Follow the club's safety instructions and suspension procedure. A wet course may also have buggy restrictions even when play continues.
  • Keep a clear record of any disruption and ask about the conditions attached to your booking; a replacement round, credit or refund should never be assumed.

A shower in the forecast can make an otherwise carefully planned golf week feel uncertain. Should you still take the transfer? Can the round move to your rest day? What happens if you have played only a few holes? The useful first step is to establish what has actually changed, rather than treating every wet-weather forecast as a cancelled round.

This guide is about decisions before and during a disrupted day. For the broader question of when to travel, our winter golf guide covers seasonal planning. Here, the aim is to keep the club, your group and the transfer plan working from the same information.

Before leaving the hotel: ask about the booking, not just the forecast

Check messages from the club and your booking contact before departure. Ask whether your tee time is unchanged, delayed or cancelled, whether the course is operating fully, and whether buggies are available. If no change has been confirmed, do not simply miss the transfer because your weather app shows rain.

Useful details to have ready are the lead golfer's name, course, date, tee time, group size and booking reference. One person should relay the answer to the group. Four golfers asking different questions through different channels can easily end up with four different versions of the plan.

What the clubs' published guidance tells us

Checked on 31 October 2026, Cullinan Links' conditions reserve the club's right to close courses in bad weather. Carya's published buggy guidance requires carts to stay on paths in heavy rain or wet conditions. Neither statement establishes a universal refund policy for a Belek holiday.

These examples show why the question 'Is golf still on?' is not always enough. A course may be playable while its transport arrangements have changed. If a buggy is essential for you, tell us when you enquire and ask for a specific answer for the affected day.

If play is suspended during the round

The R&A's Rule 5.7 distinguishes an immediate suspension, when no further stroke may be played, from a normal suspension. It also allows a player to stop when they reasonably believe lightning presents a danger, with a report to the Committee as soon as possible. Follow the club's safety directions and its instructions for leaving the course.

For a competition, establish the suspension signals before starting and follow the Committee's restart time and procedure. This article does not replace the Rules or the venue's emergency arrangements. A gap in the rain is not permission to restart independently.

Keep the next decision practical

Once you are following the club's instructions, collect the information needed to rearrange the rest of the day. Ask who will confirm the next update and where the group should wait. Let the transfer coordinator know if the original pickup no longer fits; do not assume a vehicle can wait indefinitely.

Record the date, course, booking reference, whether play started and how far the round progressed. Keep any written notice issued by the club. Those details make a later enquiry much clearer than a general message saying the weather was poor.

Do not spend the same rest day twice

A free day can provide room to move a round, but it is only useful if the course, tee time, transport and everyone in the group can fit. Before committing to a replacement, check whether you have already booked a day trip, spa appointment or late flight on that date.

If you have one essential course, identify it when planning the week. Leaving some flexibility around it can be more useful than filling every day. It still does not guarantee a replacement slot, particularly when several groups are affected by the same conditions.

Ask for the applicable terms in writing

Ask about a weather interruption before you accept a quote: who confirms closure, how an unfinished round is handled, and whether any offered credit has a validity period or restrictions. Discuss changes to transport separately. Avoid relying on what another golfer received on a different course or booking.

Alexa Golf's published terms make the written booking documents and supplier conditions part of the agreement. We can help check the options for your itinerary, but this guide promises no automatic refund, rain check or free alternative. Include your dates, preferred courses and any essential buggy needs when you ask us to plan your trip.

A few more answers

Common questions

Does rain automatically cancel a tee time in Belek?

No. A forecast alone does not establish that your booking has changed. Ask the club or your booking contact whether play is proceeding, delayed or cancelled, and confirm any buggy restrictions.

Will I automatically receive a refund for a weather-affected round?

Do not assume so. The answer depends on the circumstances and the conditions attached to your booking. Retain the club's notice and ask about the specific options, including any limits on a replacement or credit.

Can I move a disrupted round to my rest day?

It may be possible, but the course, tee time, transfers and your other arrangements all need to fit. Get the revised plan confirmed before cancelling another activity.
